As the General Manager of Aviation and Aero Engine MRO for Sanad, Helmut is responsible for all technical aspects of the business. This includes overseeing the engine line, Sanad’s extensive repair facilities, the state-of-the-art test cell, as well as the engineering and planning departments. Helmut and his team of engine experts take great pride in maintaining Sanad’s exceptional quality and operational performance record.
With 23 years of industry experience, Helmut brings a wealth of knowledge to his current role, having spent the majority of his career in engine and component MRO. Prior to joining Sanad in January of 2021, Helmut held various management positions with increasing responsibilities. He served as President & CEO of MTU Maintenance Canada, where he led the company through a successful transformation by overseeing the introduction of three new engine types and significantly expanding its military business. Additionally, he played a critical role in establishing MTU Canada as a center of excellence for accessory repair and LRU services and has been an active member of the Canadian aviation community for many years. Helmut also gained valuable international experience during a three-year assignment as the COO for ASSB in Malaysia, a joint venture between MTU and Lufthansa Technik that specializes in the repair of engine blades and vanes.
Helmut holds a degree in aeronautical engineering from TU Berlin and a masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada. He completed training in Lean methods at the University of Knoxville, Tennessee and during a Kaizen study mission to Japan.
